A for Athlete

Coach Dave Becki has been coaching at Peters Township Swim Club since September 2000. During his high school years, Coach Becki swam for Bethel Park where he was a member of four straight WPIAL Championship teams and three straight State Championship teams. In Coach Becki’s senior year at Bethel Park, the team finished 2nd in the “NISCA, mythical National Championship”. After high school, Coach Becki continued his swimming career at WVU and Westminster College where he specialized in the middle distance free and butterfly events.

Coach Becki’s coaching career began in Albertville, Alabama. Eventually, Coach Becki found his way back to Pennsylvania to coach at Bethel Park. At BP, Coach Becki served as an assistant coach helping that team to two State Championships and four WPIAL Championships. In 1999, Coach Becki led the BP Boys Team to their 20th straight WPIAL title and second place finish at the PIAAs.

In addition to coaching the Peters Swim Club team, Coach Becki serves as the Assistant Coach for the PT Middle School team and the Head Coach of the PT High School team coach. Under Coach Becki’s direction, the PT High School team secured two WPIAL runner-up places and has produced over 30 All American High School swimmers. As a further testament to Coach Becki’s coaching ability, there are currently 19 swimmers from PTSC competing at the collegiate level. Coach Becki has also served as a member of the “Zone” coaching staff on three separate occasions.

As if Coach Becki’s resume was not already full, he is a member of “WET TECH” and a founding father of the “Peters Township Wall of Fame”. Lest you think that swimming occupies all of his time, you should know that Coach Becki also volunteers his time with the PTHS football team. Nonetheless, during the summer months David is the pool manager at Rose Garden swimming pool, and you guessed it, coaches swimming.
