Former Nebraska University swimmer Don Wagner was an assistant coach at [[Bellevue High School]] before becoming an assistant at Univeristy of Arizona and USC with current national team head coach and general manager Mark Schubert. He then became head coach at Texas A&M and University of Alabama.

Wagner's tenure as the head club coach at Mt. Lebanon (Pa.) Aquatics Club in suburban Pittsburgh ended in July 2008 after the United States (also known as USA) Flag of the United States Olympic Trials.

He moved his family to take over the Condor Swim Club in West Nyack, N.Y., 45 minutes north of New York City, a club with more than 300 kids and a 50-meter indoor pool. Before going to USC, Wagner coached Janet Evans at the Fullerton Swim Club to her world record in the 800-meter freestyle, a record that still stands today.
