Chris Adamski's feature on McKeesport football and the events surrounding quarterback Eddie Stockett:

"When McKeesport quarterback Eddie Stockett committed to the University of Akron near the end of June, the Zips got themselves a big quarterback with big-time potential, one his high school coach believes was inexplicably overlooked by many Division I schools -- that's Division I as in Bowl Championship Series.

"I think a lot of BCS schools dropped the ball," said Tigers coach Jim Ward. "He's a BCS-level quarterback. I know what they look like. I've been lucky enough to have been around a few. He has every physical and mental tool.

"I think Akron is getting a steal. I think he's going to be a franchise-type quarterback."

Ward's words are strong, but so is Stockett, who at 6 feet 4, 212 pounds is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the WPIAL this fall. Stockett passed for 1,772 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior, his second season as a starter. Stockett added six rushing touchdowns, as well."
