Miroslav Klose's mea culpa.[]

Miroslav Klose redirected a Corner kick to put the ball in the net for Lazio in the 4th minute of their match against Napoli in September 2012. The Napoli players were apoplectic as they thought the ball struck Klose's hand and protested as the referee had awarded the goal.

Even as the Lazio players were celebrating, Klose immediately raised his arm to admit he scored the goal using his hand and asked the referee to disallow the goal. The Napoli players openly congratulated Klose for his honesty.

What followed was a superb hat-trick by Edinson Cavani and Napoli eventually winning the match 3-0. Seldom a hat-trick in football is completely overshadowed by another event on the pitch.

The legend of Miroslav Klose grew by leaps and bounds after this gesture as he reached the pinnacle of Fair Play in football. In an era, where football players feign injuries for minimal or no contact and make a living by scoring through penalties and set pieces, this act of Klose was truly exemplary.

This is not the first instance where Klose was lauded for his Fair Play, during his Werder Bremen days, Klose had refused to accept a penalty against Armenia Bielefeld as he thought the goalkeeper had got the ball first.

In Sports, Honesty is a good thing, may be the best of things and Miroslav Klose showed us no good thing ever dies.

Poem from The Religious Life[]

One version[]

The sage has no fixed [personal] ideas.

He regards the people's ideas as his own.

I treat those who are good with goodness,

And I also treat those who are not good with goodness.

Thus goodness is attained.

I am honest with those who are honest,

And I am also honest with those who are dishonest.

Thus honesty is attained.

Other version, Forty-nine[]

The sage has no mind of his own.

He is aware of the needs of others.

I am good to people who are good.

I am also good to people who are not good.

Because Virtue is goodness.

i have faith in people who are not faithful.

Because Virtue is faithfulness.

The sage is shy and humble -- to the world he seems confusing.

Men look to him and listen.

He behaves like a little child.
