Background[]

The Hong Kong Island Stingrays Swim Club is a well established competitive swim team in Hong Kong (also known as HKG) Flag of Hong Kong with approximately 200 swimmers. Fully owned and operated by parents, the Club offers a comprehensive guided age group youth program year round for children of age 3 up to high school level - from the beginning swimmer to the most skilled and competitive swimmer.


While Stingrays adheres to its core mission in promoting the values of perseverance, courage, commitment, and camaraderie, the Club seeks to provide a goal oriented competitive environment where swimmers of all ages, abilities, and commitment levels have opportunities to attain personal excellence in the sport.

Each year our swimmers compete at Age Group Championships, and Division 1, 2 and 3 meets here in Hong Kong as well as select international meets. Many of our swimmers are also competitive in local biathlon and open water races. Stingrays swimmers have gone on to swim in the US collegiate system; a group swam at the Australian Age Group Championships (2010); several swimmers have been in Hong Kong national team; and one member represented our Club in the World Championships (2008).

Our team philosophy is to build stroke fundamentals, promote team spirit and support the long term development of our athletes. We aim to find an energetic and enthusiastic Head Coach who will continue to support our Club mission as we grow and expand our team.

We are looking for a Head Coach who can: - lead, motivate and inspire swimmers across all groups in the team; - actively manage and structure the Swim Program for the team including the Learn to Swim Program; - effectively manage and train a staff of no less than 3 coaches; - develop and carry out a budget and a plan of growth for the Club; - develop the team calendar and schedule all club activities; - be responsible for all club communication and dissemination of information to coaches, parents and related entities in the community. Qualifications: - At least 10 years of swim coach experience with at least 2 years Head Coach experience; - ASCA (or equivalent) Level 3 or greater; - Proven ability in developing large swim program including training session design for all levels of the program and a willingness to coach all levels of the program; - Ability to manage a large Learn to Swim Program in addition to competitive swim team responsibilities; - Experience in managing a large team with high level administrative and communication skills; - Appropriate safety certifications including CPR and First Aid; - University degree preferred; - Overseas coaching experience preferred.
