Hampton Program may raise rates[]

Hampton may raise program fees [1], October 14, 2010, by Jill Cueni-Cohen for the Post-Gazette

Parents who rely on Hampton's Latchkey and Day Camp programs may be paying a bit more for the service next year.

During the township's agenda meeting, Alex Zarenko, director of Community Services, reported that a recent operating/revenue budget meeting revealed a projected deficit of $13,457. He asked that council consider raising fees by $1 per child per day.

The Latchkey Program, which operates during the school year, helps working parents by providing staff supervision for students in before and after school, on school grounds. During the summer, parents can drop their kids off at Hampton's Day Camp Program, and staff will escort them to a variety of activities and lessons. Parents currently pay $17 for 1 child; $20 for two children; and $26 for three children.

Council will vote on the fee increase at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27, 2010.
