Adding Swimming and Diving in 2009[]
Malone University athletics department, led by new Director of Athletics Charlie Grimes, has been granted approval by the University’s administration to add Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving as intercollegiate sports for the 2009-10 season.
With the addition of these two newest sports, Malone intercollegiate offerings will increase from 18 to 20, the most for any American Mideast Conference school. Malone will use the C.T. Branin Natatorium as its home site for practices and competitions.
While there are only two other NAIA schools in Ohio (Urbana, Notre Dame) that offer Swimming and Diving and only 30 other NAIA schools nationally, Malone will compete primarily against NCAA Div. III and some NCAA Div. II institutions.
The University is currently accepting applications for the part-time position of Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving head coach. Please send cover letter and resume to Charlie Grimes, Director of Athletics, Malone University , 2600 Cleveland Ave. NW, Canton, Ohio 44709.
