Norwin hires girls soccer coach[]

Tuesday, March 17, 2009 By Rick Shrum, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Norwin school board has hired Danielle Baginski as head coach of its girls' varsity soccer program.

Ms. Baginski, 35, was approved in a 7-2 vote of the directors last night. She had been the varsity girls' coach at McDowell High School in Millcreek, outside Erie. Last fall, her team won the District 10 Class AAA championship, then defeated Norwin, 1-0, in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.

Ashley Weimer, a 2001 Norwin graduate and a former star player, was hired as an assistant coach in a unanimous vote.

Ms. Baginski succeeds Dana Ferry, 56, who was not retained following 18 years at Norwin, including the past nine as head coach.
