Starts and Turns for Fly:[]
l. For the starts, use cross pool swimming, getting out by placing hands on deck and raising body out of the water (as butterfly pull). Use two undulating kicks after speed of glide from entry has diminished then one stroke before breath. In the case of poor kickers, encourage flatter entry and starting with a strong arm movement.
Turning in Butterfly does get seem to get as much attention as say the front crawl tumble turn, yet so much depends on a good Fly turn to help keep the momentum of the stroke going.
2. From five or more meters out from wall swim in Fly, practicing to reach the trough or wall at comfortable entry position. If half a stroke must be made, it should be made earlier, so that the stroke prior to turning is "on". This practice should be done regularly until a habit is formed.
3. Practice tums from five yards out dropping on right stroke, turning' push off with two undulating kicks, then pull and breathe.
