Swimming Trials are a family affair for Vanderkaays[]

Mark Vanderkaay and Robin Vanderkaay will be the busiest parents at the United States (also known as USA) Flag of the United States Swimming Olympic Trials in 2008. All four of their sons have qualified in a total of eight events. Peter Vanderkaay is the favorite to win today's 400-meter freestyle, and the 24-year-old also is a top qualifier in the 100, 200 and 1,500 freestyle races. Alex Vanderkaay (22), who along with Peter participated in the Swimvitational in June 2008, is a top contender in the 200 and 400 individual medleys and the 200 butterfly. Oldest brother Christian Vanderkaay (26) came out of retirement and qualified in the 100 breaststroke while youngest sibling Dane Vanderkaay (18) qualified last week to join Peter in the 400 free field.
